Every year we go on a weekend trip to see fall colors. This year we decided to just relax since we are going to India next month. But I think God had some other plans for us. I happened to be one of the lucky persons to win a free stay at this beautiful resort in Virginia called the Massanutten Resort. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect and we had a blast.
Massanutten is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rockingham County, Virginia, United States. The Resort is very well for various activities like skiing, snow tubing, golf, indoor/outdoor waterparks, ziplines, farm, etc.
We decided to leave on Friday morning, that way we made it more like a long weekend and enjoyed our mini vacay. The best part about this resort was the beauty around it, the fall colors, the pet farm and their indoor water-park. The room we got was quite big, It had a living area and a bedroom with two baths, dining area and a small kitchen.

We reached there on Friday, checked in and then just went out for dinner and a drive in the nearby city, Harrisonburg, VA. After dinner i tried the Thai ice cream and crepes at J-Petal, this was a really nice place and both the crepe and the ice cream was really good. The staff was friendly and it looked like a nice hangout spot.

On Saturday we went to the Waterpark and had so much fun. It was so cold and windy outside. Also, since it gets dark too early these days, the Indoor Water park was a hit! The tickets to the indoor water park were reasonably priced and there were different things to do for all age groups. There was also an “adult only” hot springs pool for the adults to relax at. If you know Ayrah, she is someone who enjoys pools and water parks. She had such a fun time that she didn’t want to leave when we were done.

Sunday morning – time to check out and headed to the petting farm at the Massanutten Resort. Ayrah had so much fun feeding the goats, watching the bunnies, the donkeys, horses and she also came across a cat which was just wandering around. Ayrah was so excited to see the cat that she started petting her. I was quite surprised that she wasn’t scared of the cat and kept running behind it chasing that poor little thing!
On our drive back we decided to stop and check out the Natural Bridge State Park in Virginia. We had heard so many good things about it and it looked so beautiful in the pictures that we wanted to check it off our list too!
We were so glad for making a stop at the Natural Bridge State Park. I mean look at the beauty above! Don’t you think it’s simply gorgeous? We also went to check out the waterfalls which was a good hike. I was so surprised that my toddler walked almost half of it, only reason because she was not interested in going to daddy and was being super clingy to me. I couldn’t carry her throughout the hike but took breaks and then daddy helped carrying her too!
This last minute trip was sure fun and most needed break from our daily monotonous routine. I am so glad we got a chance to experience this at the right time and when the weather was absolutely amazing!
I would definitely recommend visiting the resort if you haven’t been before. The rooms were okay, they definitely need some work as they don’t look very updated considering their brand is well known, but hey I stayed for free so not complaining!
